Our Community

Our Community: Family Involvement

The word "community" has roots meaning "everyone exchange," "shared by all," "a source (of water used by many)", and "to make available to everyone."

At Spruce Street School every voice joins the conversation about our children's education to exchange ideas with teachers, administrators, students, parents, graduates, and trustees. Everyone's skills and experience become a source of knowledge for others. Together, we create a pool of thinking, caring, and doing that can nourish each of us in our thirst for learning.

Spruce Street School is happy to include all families as active participants. Parents are welcome to volunteer in classrooms with younger children or drive for field trips. Parents can work on special projects or help teach an elective.

Beyond the classroom, parents may enjoy opportunities to serve on the Board of Trustees, Parent Association, special event committees, and work projects. Family members can join their child on events like class camping trips or the school-wide elders tea.

The annual auction and other fundraising activities are driven by volunteers.
