Children derive great benefit from being part of a strong, safe, nurturing school community. Our students feel known, valued and respected. We also believe that it is important for students to feel connected and able to contribute to the larger community around us. Towards this end, we provide opportunities for students to participate in a variety of community service projects.

This diversity enhances the richness of everyone's educational experience. Every family joins a broad range of students and parents. By proactively teaching and modeling respect and appreciation for all people and for the differences among us, children at Spruce Street School are well equipped for living in our heterogeneous world.

Spruce Street School strives for economic diversity through financial aid. Our tuition assistance benefits a large percentage of students. One third of our students receive economic-based aid which represents fifteen percent of the annual operating budget.

Students come from all over the Seattle metropolitan area - from as far as Bainbridge Island, Shoreline, Seward Park, and West Seattle.
